I. Love. Chex Mix. It is my favorite thing about the fall - well, that's probably not true. I love everything about the fall, and Chex Mix is a delicious bonus. Last fall I was unemployed and I subsisted on Chex Mix (and red and green M&Ms) from October until January. It's amazing I didn't gain a scrillion pounds.
My work recently hosted a happy hour where they supplied the drinks, we supplied the food. Two of us made Chex Mix. His, a new twist with different seasonings, rainbow goldfish and potato sticks. (Potato sticks!) Mine, the classic. Both delicious but for me, mine is home.
This recipe comes from my lovely Aunt Abigail, who would always have her house stocked with Chex Mix every Thanksgiving.
Aunt Abigail's Chex Mix
- 8 cups of chex cereal (rice, corn, wheat)
- 1 cup of thin pretzels, broken in half
- 1 cup of peanuts (cocktail, lightly salted)
- 1/2 stick of butter (melted)
- 1 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 4 1/2 teaspoons Worcertershire Sauce (I use closer to five)
Combine the chex, pretzels, and peanuts in a gallon-size bag. In a bowl, mix the butter, salt, and Worcerstershire sauce. Pour over the ingredients in the bag and mix well. Pour into microwave safe bowl. Microwave for six minutes, stirring after every two. Pour onto paper towels to cool. EAT.

TRON vs Texas Rangers
I missed the boat on TRON. I think I was unaware of it coming out, slash too young, slash too not into computer-related movies unless it was D.A.R.Y.L. (Which I really only saw because I had such a crush on Bastian from The NeverEnding Story.) I did see parts of it in one my college courses, I think it was a class about special effects.
Regardless of my lack of TRON-knowledge, I am a big fan of pop culture, and I try to make it my business to know things. So as I'm watching game one of the World Series (go Giants!), I can't help but notice the following similarities:

I mean, right?? Spot on! If the Rangers win, I will have no choice but to assume there is a massive conspiracy involving cult 80s movie classics, and bad (read: I don't like them) sports teams.
